| Hired by Ingrid Newkirk while they were
in jail for civil disobedience at a Pennsylvania “pigeon
shoot,” Lisa’s charm is matched only by her animal
rights knowledge. In debates on Today, CNBC,
Crossfire, Entertainment Tonight, and countless
other programs, she has left experimenters, furriers, and
meat trade officials sputtering or speechless. “I keep
calm for the animals’ sake,” she says. “Becoming
angry can turn people off and let them tune out serious issues.”
Lisa is an authority on animal protection and often addresses
schools, universities, and civic clubs. Her focus presently
includes spotlighting cruelty cases and highlighting the link
between animal abuse and crimes against humans and the need
for humane education courses. Her persistence has resulted
in major articles about PETA cases running in The Washington
Post, the Raleigh News and Observer, and other
leading media.
At home, says Lisa, “is a wonder dog named Sophie, rescued
by PETA after being chained to a car and abused. She’s
a work in progress as we try to get her to be less afraid
of people, and she’s the love of my life.” |
